Obituary of Melvin "Mel" Feld
Melvin Feld passed away peacefully Friday night at Penn Hospice in Philadelphia. He was 87.
Mel (Menashe) was born in Poland on December 12, 1927 to Chaya and Rubin Feld. Mel survived the Holocaust before he came to the United States in 1947.
Mel served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-1951. He later resided in Cranford, New Jersey and founded Mel's Children's Dress Company. Mel was also a Cantor with a beautiful voice and smile. He loved sports, and he had a passion for cantorial music and life. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be missed.
Mel is survived by his daughters: Pamela Feld-Randel (husband: Harry) and Michelle Milton (husband: Jeffrey); his grandchildren Amanda Randel, Jessica Randel, Daniel Milton, Alec Milton, Jonathon Milton (Wife: Carrie), Todd Milton; his great grandchildren Henry Milton and Jonah Milton; and his sister Estelle Nadel. He is predeceased by his brother Stephen Feld.
The funeral service will be at 12:30 P.M. Monday, March 16th in the Holocaust Memorial Chapel at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El in Wynnewood, PA. Graveside services will follow at 3 P.M. at Alliance Cemetery in Norma, NJ off Gershall Avenue. Shiva will be observed at the Randel residence Monday, March 16th through Wednesday, March 18th at 7:30 P.M. Shiva will also be observed at the Milton residence in Maryland on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:30 P.M.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., JCFS Philadelphia Holocaust survivors program, and/or Penn Hospice in Philadelphia.
