I had the pleasure of having Dane as my senior year technology teacher at Vineland HS in 2008. I am extremely sad to hear about this loss of the Vineland community and offer my condolences to his family and loved ones. He was one of the nicest educators I ever encountered, he always encouraged his students to follow their passions. He was always positive and fun loving and never sharp with his students. He was the type of teacher you truly felt you could be yourself around, ask for advice, and receive an honest answer. He was a great man and will always be remembered fondly by thousands of students.

I was shocked to learn of Dane's death. He was so young! I worked with Dane at the Cumberland County Technical Education Center and was also a member of Dane's doctoral committee. I don't think that I ever witnessed Dane have an angry moment or a bad day. He had a smile for everyone and always a kind word. I will miss him.

Dear Barse Family,
Our sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one, Dane. While our son, Jeffrey attended Schalick H.S.he had the great fortune to take a class with Dane in video technology at Salem County College. Dane's wonderful way of sharing his knowledge with his young students made the possibilities of technology exciting to them.
Dane also visited our home where he shared great conversations around our family meals.
We wish his loved ones peace in knowing our Lord has called home his faithful servant to share in the glory of heaven.

My deepest condolences to the Barse family on your tremendous loss. Friends from long ago, I have fond memories of Dane - hanging out at Act One, dinners at Pizza Hut, sharing great company and dreaming of our futures. What an amazing life he made for himself, his accomplishments many. Dane was a brilliant man taken far too soon. I wish we had stayed in better contact, but he will always hold a special place in my heart and mind. Rest well old friend.

May God give you the strength to go through this difficult time. I have never met a co-worker as intelligent, sincere and helpful as Dan. He is an example to all of us. A gentle and kind man that was humble and friendly to everyone. I will miss him very much.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. There are no words I can say to his mother that will ease the pain, I can not imagine the magnitude of the lost of a child, just know you had a wonderful son loved by everyone that knew him!

Dear Barse family,
I am so saddened by the loss of Dane. We worked together at the Adult Education Center and at VHS for many years. He was always there for me when I was in need of help in any way.. He'd shake his head when he'd see me coming because he knew I was in a mess!! Such a sweet smile and personality. I will truly miss him when I walk past his classroom.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend his funeral because it is Yom Kippur, but I now he will understand. He will be in my prayers for a swift journey directly to heaven and G-d almighty.
May your family know of no more sorrow.
Dane will truly be missed by me..
Susan

On the behalf of the Vineland Education Association, we send our condolences to Dane's entire family, circle of friends and co-workers. I'm sure he's looking down upon us with his wide grin as we speak.

Dane and I were in a computer club many years ago that met at his store in Vineland. He always had a passion for technology and loved to share that knowledge with others. It was an exciting time to learn about new computers and Dane was very cutting-edge. I miss our club meetings and the traditional dinners we would have afterward at Pizza Hut. Dane was a kind person who will be missed greatly. My family's prayers are with the Barse family during this difficult time. Rest in peace my friend.

Dane was a true gentleman in every way. I had the pleasure of working with him at Sacred Heart Grammar School. I always enjoyed our lively discussions and his keen intellect.
Recently, we met again on the VHS football field. He always had words of encouragement and a big smile. His support of the team, fund raisers, and coaching staff was unwavering.
All those who knew him ( including myself), loved him. He was a loyal, faithful friend!
He will be deeply missed and never forgotten...
Deepest Sympathy from my family-

Dr. Barse was a wonderful man to work with during my time with the VPS TV crew. He was a kind and sincere gentleman and his thirst for knowledge in technology was indeed evident working with the broadcast equipment. It was an awesome pleasure to have met him and work with such a technologically savvy individual. He will be missed and never forgotten both with the TV crew and the students he taught at VHS.
I'll never forget how he would call me "Ninja" for my swift ways of setting up equipment and suddenly appearing across the room/field taking care of business. Rest in peace, Dr. Barse.

Dane was a wonderful man and an outstanding educator. I had the privilege of working with Dane when he was the Director of the Educational Technology Training Center at CCTEC, then again for the last few years as adjunct professors for Fairleigh Dickinson University. He touched many lives as a teacher, Director, and a member of the CCTEC Foundation Board. His passing is a great loss for the region. However, his work will live on in the lives of all the students that he taught. I will miss him very much. Rest in peace, my friend.
