Obituary of Anna Figueroa

On Sunday, September 7, 2014, Anna M. Figueroa at age 77, was granted her angelic wings, after a short illness, to make her transition from earth to glory. Content with having lived a good and productive life, she was ready to enter into the loving arms of her Savior. She had fought the good fight with cancer and was ready to go to her new mansion in heaven. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Anna had touched in some small way throughout her very memorable life and those whose lives were touched by her, understood that the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Anna landed on these celestial shores on February 25, 1937 in San Lorenzo, Puerto, Rico, to the late Martin Hernandez and Esmeralda Rojas. At the age of 13, her family relocated in Vineland, New Jersey. In 1954, she met and married Luis Figueroa and from this union, three children were born, Pedro, MaryAnn and Robert. Anna was employed by the Vineland Board of Education from 1974 until her retirement in 2009. During her tenure, she worked as a Teacher's Assistant at Mel Fels, Durand, Impact, Dallago and Max Leuchter, retiring after 35 years. In 1969, Anna became an active member of the Spanish Catholic Center until it closed in 2010. She united with Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she continued serving her God until her death. In her church, she served as Cursillo, Marriage Encounter, CCD Teacher, Eucharist Ministry and was one of the founders of the Spanish Catholic Center Hall She was preceded in death by her husband, Luis, and a son, Robert. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her; son, Pedro Figueroa(Edith), Orlando, FL; daughter, MaryAnn Romero, Vineland; sister, Elva Roman(Angel); brother, Juan Roldan(Ester); 13 grandchildren, Michael Baez, Michelle Miranda, Pedro Figueroa, Jr, Alisha Gonzalez, Marisol Figueroa, Edward Figueroa, Aileen Gonsalez, Chandon Figueroa, Chalia Figueroa, Giani Figueroa, Miranda Silva, Sebastian Figueroa, and Sabrina Figueroa; 19 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A Funeral Home Visitation will be on Friday evening, September 12, from 7pm to 9pm at Rone Funeral Services, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue Vineland, NJ and on Saturday, September 13 from 9:15 to 10:15, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
