I remember Robert from my NYU days, and in fact we were briefly roommates...we rented a room together on Waverly place. One of my memories is of a birthday party our friend Art Forman organized for Robert's Hermes 3000 typewriter. Bob had a writer's sense of style, which included his beloved typewriter. It was a surprise party, and I surreptitiously inserted a note into the Hermes written by Art so when Bob opened the typewriter it would be ready to thank everyone for attending the party. Bob was very proud of a song he wrote about the Gowanus Expressway probably typed on the Hermes. Those were the days.

I was making a special effort to contact the family of Robert to send my condolences and to bring you comfort from the scriptures which I found to be consoling with a wonderful hope for the future. Notice the condition of the dead in Eccle. 9:5. "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten." Yes, they are not conscious when asleep in death but God will resurrect them, for they are in His memory. Revelation 21:4 says, "God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." So this is very encouraging what God promises for the future, and in God's appointed time we will see the reality.

I have the best memory of being at our class reunion many years ago, and spending time (must admit, at the bar) talking and laughing with Bob/Victor. He was so totally present and in the moment, and I am saddened by his untimely passing. I would love to be at his service, but I am in Wisconsin, so, God Bless you, Bob.

We go all the way back to Orchard Road School. September, 1955 in Kindergarten with Miss Gardella. Bob sat right behind me. He lived on Almond Rd. & I lived on W. Park Ave. & all I had to do was walk due North through the woods for a couple of hundred yards & I was at his mailbox. I remember his birthday party he invited me to! We was maybe 6 or 7 then... Now Bob's eternal. We spent time together at the 20th Reunion in '88...I miss him.
