Obituary of Santoro Terranova

Santoro Vito Terranova, 89, of Vineland passed away on September 28, 2013 at Cooper Hospital. He was born in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), New York. He attended technical high school in New York where he studied aeronautical design. He was an excellent catcher for the cities league baseball prompting him to try out for the Brooklyn Dodgers, however family obligations prevented his dreams to come true. Sal served in the US Army Combat Engineers ETO during WW II, where his job was operating a tank carrier retrieving General Patton's disabled tanks. After the war Sal moved to Vineland in the late 1940's. In the early 50's he began working as a technician in a closet at Dr. Seymour Hyman's Dental Office, with the help of his friends he built the Dental Lab. He owned and operated Terranova Dental Laboratory for over 60 years. "Doc" Terranova was one of the first dental technicians to be certified in all phases of the technology. He was an officer and active member of the NJ Dental Laboratory Association for many years. he was also a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish. Sal loved horse racing and followed the horses all his life and was surprisingly good at picking winners.
