My condolences to Dr.Higgin's Family. I've had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Higgins for 15 years. He was intelligent caring witty and loved to talk. He was always ready to give advise, share a story or even a joke. He had a way of making everyone feel special. We used to share stories/photos about hunting, fishing and sports. I told him he reminded of my brother who who lives out on the west coast and did the same with his daughters. May happy memories carry you through this sorrowful time. He will truly be missed by all.

Some of my fondest memories as a child were with Joe. Our fathers were brothers and we were only two weeks apart in age. We had a few fun adventures… I have fond memories of the shore; especially on my father’s boat in Mystic Islands. Family visits to Uncle Bill and Aunt Helen’s house in Germantown and the Tuckahoe cabin. He was always a happy person as far back as I can remember… he had a beautiful smile and made you feel good every time you saw him…he was bright and humble… my mind has been flooded with wonderful memories of my dear cousin this past week. Please accept my condolences Kathy for the loss of Joe, and to Kelly, Caitlin and Danielle for the loss of your father I know this is very difficult on your entire family. And to my cousin Stephanie, I know how close the two of you were, I know your sadness must be overwhelming. This is such a terrible loss for all of us who had the honor to know and love him. Sometimes it is difficult to try to understand some things in life, but I do know that this world is a better place because of my cousin Joe. Love always, Theresa

My deepest sympathies to the family on the loss of their dear loved one. He was such a compassionate professional. Dr. Higgins would make house calls to Adele McLaughlin, in her later years. She was always thankful he took the time to check in on her. Our family appreciated this so much, Dr. Higgins became our choice for General Practitioner.

In the fall of 1978 while a freshman at Dickinson College I wandered into a dorm room to meet Joe Higgins for the first time. We found out we were two South Jersey boys from Vineland and Woodstown who loved the outdoors and hunting. He had grown up hunting small game with his Uncle and I had done the same with my father. From this chance meeting I was able to form one of the best friendships of my life. In the college days our parents took turns taking us back and forth to Dickinson. The exchange point was always the Woodstown diner. But whenever we got a break from school we found ourselves hunting small game or deer in the woods of South Jersey. So many days hunting with a buddy like Joe will be cherished. Joe was the one who actually got us turkey hunting. In the winter of 1993 I remember Joe saying we had to try this turkey hunting and my reply was we knew nothing about turkey hunting! But: off we went and we ended up becoming two very good turkey hunters. In college we had so many great times. Too many to mention and some that should be left unmentioned. He was a great husband and father who loved his children dearly. He taught them the love of the outdoors: teaching them to hunt and fish. I will miss my dear friend so much. He was like a brother to me. But I know as I write this he is in heaven drawing back on a big buck with his bow: making that last call on his slate before he waits for that big Tom to come in; or making one more cast for that big fish. Your friend Mark

Dr. Higgins was our family doctor. He took care of my husband until he passed in 1994 so very ably. I continued on with him and missed him terribly when he left to go to Manor Care. I don't know anyone who should have been a doctor as much as Dr. H. He cared and it showed. He will be truly missed. Condolences to his family.

Kathy and Girls, We are all so heartbroken over the passing of Dr. Higgins. My mom, husband and I all decided to try the "new guy" when he first came to the practice and for those 19 years he was our doctor and friend. Over those years we learned of his love for his family and all things outdoors. There were a lot of laughs when going to see Dr. Higgins. We will treasure them always. Our deepest sympathy, love and prayers.

I am very sorry for your loss. Dr. Higgins was a great physician, teacher and mentor for all of us. Dr. Higgins supported quality care and assisted staff in learning and developing their skills to better serve our residents. Dr. Higgins is truely irreplacable and the love he had for his job is remarkable. He cared deeply for what he did both personally and professionally. His devotion to his family and passion for the personal growth of his children showed he was a great man, father, and husband. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to work with him over the past three years. It is with great sadness that he was taken at such a young age but his accomplishments and compassion will be remembered for years to come. I pray for your and yours during this very difficult time. Sincerely, Rhonda Dempsey

To the family of Dr. Joe Higgins; As his obituary states, Dr. Higgins became our divisional Medical Director over the last two years. As the divisional vice president I could not be any more excited about this promotion. It is with great sadness that we have all lost this amazing man, father husband and physician. Our team grieves deeply with your family. Joe was loved by our nurses, aides, dietary staff, housekeepers, cooks, office staff and the Administrators he served. People always say when someone leaves their job that everyone is replaceable. This is not the case for Joe. His passion, heart, caring, teaching and loving of our patients and staff will never be replaceable. He will truly be missed. We send our sympathies and love to his wonderful family. Regards. Lynn
