Obituary of Joseph P. Bassetti

Joseph P. Bassetti Jr., 89 passed away peacefully Friday morning July 5, 2013 at his home. Born in Vineland to the late Joseph and Mary (Trovarelli) Bassetti, where he lived until moving to Buena Boro in 1947. Joe was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He was the chairman of BBMUA for many years and was involved in Buena Boro politics. A member of the Landisville Social Club and the Diamond Social Club, Joe was a self employed produce broker for more than 60 years. He looked forward and loved selling NJ fruits and Vegetables in season and spending his winters in Florida watching the Miami Dolphins and thoroughbred horse racing. Most of all he loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Beatrice (Melini) Bassetti, his children Donna and husband Andy Wozunk, Joseph and wife Sharon Bassetti III, and Kathleen Unruh, Grandchildren Nicole (Todd) Powers. Andrea (Ray) Palmieri, Joseph Bassetti IV and his fiance Lara Castorina, Brittny L. Bassetti, Jeffrey Dalponte, Carlo DeMore, Charles, Wendy, Kimberly, and Patricia Harris. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, his brother and sister-in-law Medio and Delores Bassetti, Sisters Josephine Bocchetti, Sue Forcinito, Julia Salera, and sister and husband Tillie and John Propheita, his sister-in law Betty Bassetti, and brother-in-law Dom Vassallo, and loyal friend, Ed Hainsworth. Along with his parents, Joe is predeceased by a son Patrick (Pinky) DeMore, grandson Patrick J. DeMore, son-in-law Louis P. Dalponte, brothers Anthony, James, Frank, and John Bassetti, and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sarah and Bill DiMatteo and Gloria Vassallo. A funeral home visitation will be held on Tuesday July 9, 2013 from 8:30 to 11:00AM at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave. Vineland, NJ 08360 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Victories Cemetery Landisville, NJ.
