Obituary of Morris Forstein
Forstein, Morris, 94, of Vineland died peacefully at home on January 27, 2013. Morris was born on March 23, 1918, at the Physician's Hospital at 6th and Pear Sts. in Vineland. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1936. Morris served in the 8th Army Air Force from 1942 until 1945.
After the war, Morris returned to Vineland and married Thelma (Krasner), his wife of 58 years. Shortly thereafter he opened Forlan's Shoes at 4th St. and Landis Ave. in Vineland and later on Commerce St. in Bridgeton. In his later years, he worked for Allen's Shoes at the Shore Mall.
Morris is survived by his daughter, Sharon Schulman (Sheldon); daughter Rosalind Metcalf (Thomas O'Donnell), sister Jeanette Greenberg, granddaughters Andrea (Christopher) Swingley, Dara Schulman, and Meghan Metcalf, great-grandsons Shane and Kyle Burke, and many nieces and nephews. Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, parents Alex and Sadie Forstein, sister Dorothy Karabel, and granddaughter Stephanie (Schulman) Burke.
He loved being with his family and friends and doted on his daughters and grandchildren, often taking them to Phillies games and restaurants. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. Morris was a member of Beth Israel Congregation, the Jewish War Veterans and Beth Israel Men's Club.
Shiva will be observed at the home of his daughter, Rosalind Metcalf.
Donations may be made to the Hebrew Women's Benevolent Society of Vineland.
