Obituary of Edgar Burton

Edgar H. Burton, 85, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, 17th of March at 10:24 am. He was born on 8th of August, 1924 the son of the late Harvey A. and Mamie (Warrington) Burton. After Mamie's death in 1926, Harvey moved to Vineland with Ed where he lived for the rest of his life. Ed served in the U.S. Armed forces from 1943 until 1946. He was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart. In 1944 Ed married Mary Raffaelli at Sacret Heart Chruch. For these past 65 years they were each other's support and soul mate. Ed worked as a milkman for Shoemaker Dairies during his younger years. He took on extra work, always happiest when he could be doing something. The City of Vineland hired him as a building inspector in April of 1978. He loved that job, which he held until his retirement in 1992. Since his retirement, Ed worked summers for Tolotti' Farms, taking samples to the Vineland Produce Auction. Ed considered his greatest sucess to be his wife, Mary and his "two kids" John and Kathy. His life's effort, his devotion was fro them. For this, he will be most deeply missed. Ed is survived by Mary, his beloved wife of 65 years, his son the Reverend Monsignor John H. Burton and his daughter Sister Kathleen Burton, S.S.J. and several cousins, neices, and nephews. Ed's funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Isidore Church, 1655 Magnolia Road in Vineland at 11:00am on Tuesday, 23rd of March. Friends and relative will be received at the church on Monday evening 22nd of March from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again of Tuesday from 10:00 until 10:45 am. Avigil service will be celebrated at 7:00 pm in the Curch. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery
