Gertrude (Spear) Zappariello, 84, of Vineland, passed away peacefully at home, following a brief illness, on Thursday March 22, the one year anniversary of the death of her only son.

Born in Wadsworth, Ohio on May 18, 1922, Gertrude moved with her family to Brooklyn, NY in 1926, then settled in Vineland in 1939. Married to Frank Zappariello in 1942, she devoted her life to raising their family and assisting in the family businesses, first Delsea Decorators of Vineland, later in building and development in Ocean City, NJ. Gertrude was an accomploished seamstress, creating much of her children's clothin. Gertrude was Past President of the original Vineland Jayceettes, lifetime member & Past President of Beta Sigma Phi Soroity, volunteer member of the Newcomb Hospoital Auxiliary, a founding member of the Buena Vista Country Club, and a member of the BVCC Ladies Golf Association.

Gertrude enjoyed bingo, travel, golf, and especially her annual trips to Las Vegas casinos, where she "always won, but put the winnings back". She will be remembered for her quick wit, generosity, and consideration and support of family and friends.

Gertrude Zappariello is survived by daughters Bonnie Zappariello-Reilly and Francis J. Reilly of Vineland, Lois M. Genovese and companion Frank Amari Jr. of Vineland and Gina M. Zappariello of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter-in-law Patty Zappariello of Berlin, NJ; grandchildren Damon Zappariello of Conshohocken, PA, Jeffrey and Karen Zappariello of Media, PA, and Christina M. Genovese of Vineland; sister Ann and James Cavaliero of Vineland; brother-in-law Gennaro Zappariello of Minotola; sister-in-law Antoinette Lesczcynski of Vineland, Josephine and Nicholas Mannino of Glassboro, Margaret Masciarella of Wildwood, Antoinette Zappariello of Vineland; and many nieces and nephews.

Gertrude was pre-deceased by her husband Frank Zappariello Sr. (1995), son Frank Zappariello Jr. (2006), sister Doris George ( 2006), brothers Corporal Harry Spear (1948) and James Spear (1973), and her parents, Andrew (1983) and Verna (Floyd) Spear (1970).
