Obituary of Francisco Velez SR.

Francisco M. Velez, Sr., 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at his home. He was lovingly known as "Mariano" to family and friends. He migrated to the mainland in 1957 from Puerto Rico and lived in Buena Vista Township for thirty-five years. Francisco was a humble man who worked as a migrant worker, metal shop worker, poultry laborer and factory worker. He worked and lived a hard life but did so with love in his heart for his family, especially for his wife of 54 years, Susana. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susana Velez; sons, Francisco Velez Jr.; George Velez; Javier Velez; David Velez; two grandsons raised by Francisco, Angel Arbelo; Hector Cintron; daughters, Sonia Taylor and Minelva Rodriguez; a sister, Luz Mercado; brothers, Tonio Velez; Berto Velez; and Jose Velez-Sobrino; 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Francisco was pre-deceased by his daughter, Susana Velez; sister, Lydia Velez; brother, Damien Velez, and parents Trinidad (Arbelo) and Maximilliano Velez. Funeral home visitations will be held on Thursday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday 9:15 am to 10:15 am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ A funeral mass will be held Friday at 11:00 am from Queen Of Angels Parish At Our Lady Of Victories Church, 202 NW Boulevard, Landisville.
