Obituary of Edward M. Unchis Sr.

Edward M. Unchis Sr, 72, of Vineland NJ passed away suddenly Thursday February 26th at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia with his family by his side. Ed, the son of Lithuanian immigrants, was born in Philadelphia on March 12, 1936. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1954 He served over seas in the US Army until 1961. For over 30 years Ed worked in the newspaper industry working at The Philadelphia Bulletin, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Courier Post, The Atlantic City Press and The Daily Journal. Ed was very active in his church and served as a Eucharistic minister for more than 25 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his parish St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Vineland. He will be missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carmella (Onorato) Unchis, his son Edward Jr and wife Lisa also of Vineland and his daughter Debbie and husband Brian of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his two grandchildren Hannah and Holden Unchis of whom he was very proud and enjoyed spending time with.
