Obituary of Carmelo Charles Scapellato

C. Charles Scapellato 92 of Landisville, passed away Friday at South Jersey Regional Medical Center. Born and raised in the Forest Grove section of Vineland, he was the son of the late Sebastian and Concetta (Pustizzi) Scapellato. Charles was the police chief of Buena from 1960 to 1962. Although, Charles was best known in the automobile community for having worked many years for Yank Chevrolet, Gratz Chevrolet-Buick-AMC and holding the rank of top salesman. In his younger days he played baseball for Melini Goodyear in the city league champions of 1950. Charles was inducted into the Vineland Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2009. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Jean (D'Amico) Scapellato, his son and wife Charles L. and Andrea Scapellato, his two grandsons and wives Charles A. and Mackenzie Scapellato and Michael A. and Kelly Scapellato and his great-grand daughter Natalie Scapellato, his sisters-in-law Rose Curcio, Emily Capabianco and Clarina Scapellato and many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his four brothers; Dominic, Joseph, Vincent, Peter and also his two sisters Josephine Cifologlio and Bertha Barbieri. A church visitation will be held Wednesday October 3, 2012 from 9 to 11 am with a mass to follow at 11 am in the church at the parish of Lady of The Blessed Sacrament-Church of Our Lady Of Victories 202 NW Blvd, Landisville NJ.
