Obituary of Arthur Franklin Yard

Arthur Franklin Yard, 99, of Towanda, PA, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, at his daughter's residence in Vineland, NJ. Born in Trenton, NJ, on March 29, 1924, he was the son of Helen (Yard) and Samuel Raskin. A longtime resident of Towanda, PA, Arthur was a 1941 graduate of Towanda Jr-Sr High School and played on the championship football team. He also served three years in the United States Marine Corps during WWII until his honorable discharge as a corporal in 1946. After almost forty years working as Manager of Administration and Finance at Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, Arthur began an extended retirement in 1985. He enjoyed traveling, visiting with his children and their families, wintering in Florida, and playing as much golf as possible. Arthur's family would like to thank the many people who have extended their prayers and well-wishes during his recent health issues. Arthur is survived by his longtime companion Shirley Dickinson of Ulster, PA; his children Brian Yard of Cherry Hill, NJ, Susan Yard-Chater, wife of Bronislav of Vineland, NJ, Amanda Gallello, wife of Anthony of Lancaster, PA, and Kathy Goldstein, wife of Joel of Egg Harbor, NJ. Arthur is lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Alexakis, Paul Gallello, Kathleen (Gallello) Valentin, Angela (Gallello) McKillips, and Keith Goldstein. In addition, he has thirteen, soon-to-be fourteen, great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of seventy years, Phyllis (Wolcott) Yard, who passed away on January 22, 2014 and his children Keith Arthur Yard and Theresa Yard Alexakis.
