Obituary of Rita Marie Falasca

Rita Falasca, 102, of Vineland, passed away at home on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Born in Philadelphia in1921, Rita was the daughter of the late Ralph and Theresa DiTullio. Rita attended Catholic school in Philadelphia but left school to care for her mother and siblings at a young age. Rita later met the love of her life, Silvio "Sam" Falasca, and the two were married for 64 years before his passing in 2005. Rita and Sam moved their family to Glassboro and then to Vineland in1945 where they remained lifelong residents. In her later years, Rita worked for Vineland Public Schools, serving in the cafeteria at Landis Intermediate School. Rita is survived by her five children, Eleanor Barretta, Daniel Falasca Sr. (Helene), Theresa Cheesman (Mark), Linda Gallina, and Ronald Falasca (Doreen). She is survived by her 12 grandchildren; Elisa Barretta, John Barretta (Leslie), Aldo Falasca, Daniel Falasca Jr. (Lisa), Danielle Sneathen (William), Michael Mazowski (Shea),Thomas Mazowski (Jessica), Thomas Gallina (Stephanie), Valerie DeTetta (Brad), Ronald Falasca Jr. (Julieann), Stephen Falasca (Melissa), and Dana Andrew (Dustin). Rita is also survived by her 30 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Silvio "Sam" Falasca, her son-in-law, Jack Barretta and her son-in-law, Thomas Gallina as well as her Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law, Eleanor and Angelo Falasca, and her 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Rita enjoyed cooking and baking for the many dinners and parties she hosted at her home. Her favorite pastime was to spend time with her family. Rita's legacy will live on in her beloved children and grandchildren. Rita's family wishes to give special thanks to her caregiver, Tima, her dear friend and neighbor, Bette, and Elyce, Jessica, Stephanie, Ally and Marsha of Red Oak Hospice. A church visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 9am to 12pm followed by a funeral mass at 12:15 pm from Saint Padre Pio Parish - Church Of Our Lady Of Pompeii, 4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
