Obituary of Helen Caraline Sweeney

Helen C. (Dziedzic) Sweeney passed away under the care of hospice on Monday, September 4, 2023 at The New Jersey Veteran's Memorial Home in Vineland. Helen was born and raised in Port Griffith, PA with eight brothers and sisters in a loving Polish Catholic household. She eventually met her husband of 62 years, Joseph Martin Sweeney from Avoca, PA. Helen was an expert seamstress who worked in multiple dress factories in North Eastern, PA. She greatly enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking sweet treats for her and her husband and she also attended mass every Sunday. She always spoke highly of her close relationship with her siblings. She was a proud member of the ILGWU and the Polish Women's Alliance. She is survived by daughters, Jacqualyn Sweeney Fanelle (Dr. Joseph W. Fanelle) and Dr. Donna Sweeney (Dr. Thomas J. Ravin); grandchildren, Zachary J Fanelle, Caitlin Ravin Lasky (Brian E. Lasky), Dr. Christa Fanelle Massak (Dr. Mark M. Massak) and Olivia Sweeney Ravin (Joseph A. Calpas); great-grandchildren, Nathan Fanelle Massak, Louie Fanelle Massak and Jacob T. Lasky. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. Sweeney; her siblings, Josephine Chorba, Martha Dziedzic, Mary Pryzwara, Walter Dziedzic, Stanley Dziedzic, John Dean, sister Myra and Sister Felicia Ann.
