Obituary of Anita R Fisher

Anita (Kaplan) Fisher of Vineland passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Gussie (Horowitz) Kaplan. She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Kaplan (Rebekah). Anita was born in Vineland and graduated from Vineland High School in 1954 and University of Delaware in 1958 with a degree in Education. After teaching for a year in Baltimore, she taught at Mennies School for a short while. At this time, she went on a blind date and met the love of her, Bernard, to whom she was married for 57 years, and raised her family, during which time she was very active in Beth Israel Synagogue, PTA, Sun and Splash swim club, and other community organizations. She returned to teaching at the Beth Israel Nursery School for over a decade. She then went back to teaching public school at Veterans Memorial Middle School in Vineland for approximately 15 years. When she retired, she and Bernie traveled the country and spent time with family and friends, with a focus on her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Eagles games, and doing all kinds of needlecraft, especially embroidery, knitting, and needlepoint. Anita is survived by her four children, Susan Nathan (Edward), David Fisher (Debbie), Jeff Fisher (Lynne), and Dr. Matthew Fisher; her grandchildren, Alex (Chelsea), Ezra, Ilana, Ethan, Noah, Joshua, Satchel, and Maxwell; and her great grandson Quinn. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Fisher. A graveside service and burial will be held on Monday, August 21st at 12pm from Alliance Cemetery, 970 Gershal Ave, Norma.
