Obituary of Dean Mason

Dean Anthony Mason of Vineland, New Jersey passed away suddenly on July 17, 2023. He was born to Gina Christine (Casadia) and Floran Wayne Mason, Jr. on February 18, 1994. We fondly remember Dean as a partner, brother, son, composer, musician, scholar, community leader, virtuoso, and cat lover. He was a proud graduate of Vineland High School, class of 2012. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Rowan University in 2018 and was pursuing a graduate degree in finance from Johns Hopkins University. Dean lived a life of joy, compassion, love, and selfless kindness. He celebrated the company of his friends and family and lived his life to the fullest, never hesitating to indulge in his favorite foods, games, and sounds. He composed music, he sang, he played the contrabass, bass guitar, and classical guitar with passion, and he particularly enjoyed the music of RUSH, Philip Glass, Snail's House, and his band, All Systems Go. His peers admired him, his colleagues respected him, and his companions adored him without reservation. The size and depth of his legacy cannot truly be put into words. Like all humans, he experienced challenges and setbacks. He fought his battles courageously and with strength. For his heart and his bravery, we will remember him. He is survived by his beloved partner Sienna Brubaker; his parents Gina and Wayne; twin brother Nick and his wife Brooke Brown; his younger brother Cody; grandparents Anthony and Marie Casadia of Swedesboro, Floran and Kristine Mason, Sr. of Landisville, and William and Marlene Simpkins of Florida. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, John and Rita Shicunoff of Vineland, Michael and Monica Trudeau of Philadelphia, and cousins who were like siblings to him: Eric Shicunoff of Vineland, Michael, Anthony, and Mary Trudeau of Philadelphia, and many others. He has also left behind his beloved band members, cats, and countless friends who will carry on his legacy of joy and love forever. "Sometimes I feel like I'm barely hanging on / Don't let me go; stay with me until the dawn / Sometimes I feel like I've been cursed by angry gods / But I know I'm wrong because there's you."
