Obituary of Margaret Galbiati

Margaret (nee Arpino) Galbiati passed away peacefully at home June 8, 2014 at the age of 87. She was born in Minotola on June 28, 1926, the youngest child of Giacomo and Maria Arpino. She graduated from Vineland High in 1944, and then attended St. Agnes School of Nursing in Philadelphia, where she earned her diploma in nursing in 1947. She served in the Women's Army Corp during World War II, and met her future husband when he was home on leave during the war. Margaret and Francis Galbiati were married in 1947. She worked for many years as a nurse for Dr. Delmo Mattioli and at Newcomb Hospital; all while having her family and helping her husband on their farm. In 1963 they built Eastlyn Golf Course, and together they ran this successful business for 20 years. Her life's focus was her family. She is survived by daughter Carol Strahlendorf of Naples, Florida, daughter and husband Mary and James Menone of Vineland, daughter and husband Ruth and Dr. Richard Golden of Vineland, daughter Francine Smith of Atlantic City, daughter and husband Lisa and Kenneth Boone of Catonsville, Maryland, sister Susie Zucca of Vineland, 15 grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by Francis, her husband of 62 years in 2009, her beloved son Paul who died in 1951, son-in-law Gerry Strahlendorf, and sisters Josephine Muccio, Rose Lucchesi, Catherine Arpino, Helen Phillips, and brother Joseph Arpino. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 11 from 9-11am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.
