Obituary of Nicholas A. Mannino

Nicholas A Mannino, Sr. on January 15, 2014 of Glassboro, NJ. Beloved son of the late Rosario & Domenica Mannino. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years Josephine (Zappariello) Mannino. Beloved father of Nicholas A. Jr. (Anna Maria) & Robert. Dearest Pop-Pop of Nicholas A III and Natalie. Dear brother of Catherine Shaw (William), brother-in-law Gennaro Zappariello and sisters-in-law Antoinette Leszczynski and Antoinette Zappariello. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Michael, Anthony and Mario. Mr. Mannino lived in Glassboro for most of his life. Nicholas attended Glassboro Public Schools leaving to honorably serve his country during World War II. Mr. Mannino proudly achieved the rank of US Army Staff Sergeant Chief Mechanic. Mr. Mannino was decorated with the American Campaign, WWII Victory, European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign & Good Conduct Medals. Mr. Mannino returned to South Jersey following the war. He married Josephine and started his family. Nicholas was a Super Chevy Mechanic working for the Iles & Shimp dealership Woodstown/Elmer for 15 years. Nicholas left to work closer to home at the Owens Illinois/Anchor Hocking/Newell Rubbermaid Plant #68 in Glassboro until the factory closed in the late 1990's. In retirement, Nicholas reinvented his life becoming a Deptford Mall Walker and an accomplished cook. Nicholas loved tending his vegetable garden and baking and cooking many holiday treats for his family and friends. He lived a very active life until illness took a toll on him during the recent Holiday season. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him dearly. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Our Lady of Victories Church, Landisville at 10am. A viewing will be held for one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be held at All Saints Mausoleum, Newfield. At family's request, please make donations in Nicholas Mannino's name to St. Bridget's Church Elevator Fund, Attn: Fr. Matthew Weber, 125 Church St., Glassboro, NJ 08028. A Church Visitation will be on Monday, January 20 from 9am to 10am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am at Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament - Church Of Our Lady Of Victories, 202 Northwest Boulevard, Landisville, NJ. Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Newfield, NJ. Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360
