Obituary of Christopher Possumato

Christopher Possumato, 57, of Vineland passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 10, 2013 while on vacation with his wife and grandson in Ft. Pierce, FL. Chris was born in Vineland and remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of the Vineland High School Class of 1974. After graduating, he began his career with the Vineland Police Department and retired as a Detective from Atlantic City Police Department. Upon his retirement he joined the Vineland Board of Education as a Security/Attendance Counselor. Chris was a member of various groups; The PBA, The North Italy Club, A Mason with the Masonic Lodge # 69, Buena Knights of Columbus, Diamond Social Club and the Ocean City Fishing Club. He was a former member of the Rec Club of Vineland and Loyal Order of the Moose in Vineland. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, shooting and motorcycling with his grandson. Chris was an avid football fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins. He loved traveling to his winter home in Florida, playing cards and spending time with his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 34 years, Debbie (Dagostino) Possumato; Son & Daughter-in-law, David & Susan Possumato; Grandchildren, Dominic, Kaci, Kara & Katie; Sisters, Marcia (Possumato) Shipley & Teresa (Possumato) Smiley; Former Brother-in-law, Robert Shipley; many nieces and nephews and his dear friends, Dave, Pat & John as well as many others. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael & Marguerite "Peggy" Possumato and his brother-in-law, Gary Smiley. Funeral Home Visitations will be Friday evening, November 15 from 6pm to 9pm and again Saturday morning, November 16 from 9am to 11am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. The funeral service will begin 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16 at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland.
