Obituary of Lucille Rose Marano

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Lucille Rose Marano (nee Race), who passed at the age of 78 on July 24, 2026. Born in Vineland, NJ, Lucille was a graduate of Glassboro State College where she earned a degree in Mathematics. She went on to teach for over 30 years at Williamstown High School. She was a dedicated and fun-loving teacher and class advisor for many years. Lucille loved to look at the lighter side of things. She could always be counted on to turn a bad situation into a positive one with her quick wit and laughter. Even when faced with a troubling autoimmune disorder, she was never down or asked why me. She lifted those around her. Later in life she was lucky to find her partner Bob Gaidosh. The pair were a stand-up act, with Lucille playing the straight man who usually got the last laugh. Because as Bob knows, "Lucille is always right." Lucille was very proud of her family. While in the hospital, she would introduce her daughter, Lisa, to all the staff, as "my daughter, the doctor". Lisa and Lucille had many adventures together which ended in countless laughs and joy. They were as big as a trip to China and as small as trying to figure out how much paint was needed to paint an entire basement and still ordering 3 cans too much despite having 4 math degrees between the two of them. Perhaps Lucille's greatest pride and joy was her grandson, Kyle. When he was younger, she was his only babysitter. She helped orchestrate every birthday party, planned our Disney trips, and made Christmas Eve special. As Kyle got older, Lucille went to every event from cross country meets to art shows. Most of all, she loved watching him swim. Lucille is predeceased by her parents, Kenneth L. Race and Antionette Race (Mongelluzzo). She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Marano and Lisa's partner Chet Peden, and grandson, Kyle. Lucille is also survived by her sisters, Paulette Laubsch and Carol Townsend, nephews Kenneth (Barbara) and Alfred (Lisa) Laubsch and Michael and David (Sharon) Townsend, and grand nephews and nieces, Matthew, Jeremy, Amelia (Tim), Sarah, Logan (Zach), Nicole, and Michelle. She is also survived by her partner in life, Robert Gaidosh. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lucille's honor to Evans Syndrome Research at Boston Children's Hospital. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4th, from 10:00am-11:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at Divine Mercy Parish, 23 West Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. ARRANGEMENTS are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
