Obituary of Stephen Jay Blumberg

Jay Blumberg lived a full life of ninety-one years. He was married to Deena (nee Kleiner) for sixty-seven years. Jay was father to three children, recognized here with their spouses; Marc and Mary Blumberg of Aiken, SC, Chet Blumberg of Vineland, NJ and Jayne and Scott Coggins of Winnsboro, SC. He was grandfather of Sydney Templeton (Patrick) and Nate Blumberg (Collier). Just before his passing, Jay became a great-grandfather to Nate and Collier's son Mack Blumberg. Although Jay never met Mack, he was delighted to learn that he was coming into the world. As it turned out, the two Blumberg souls passed each other within seven days. Jay was born in the Bronx, New York to parents Nathan and Goldie Blumberg and he was the older brother to Richard, all now predeceased as well as Deena's parents; Faye and Mickey Kleiner and her brother The Honorable Steven Kleiner. Jay served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He earned the rank of Private First Class where he was in Armored Division in Germany as a tank driver. Jay was a strong athlete and excelled in many sports. Jay graduated from Taft High School, Bronx, NY. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Master of Business Administration degrees from New York University. Although they lived just around the corner from each other as children in the Bronx; Jay met the proverbial girl-next-door some twenty years later. He and Deena met as senior counselors at Camp Watitoh in the Berkshire Mountains. Professionally, Jay spent his career in the textile industry in managerial and executive positions in multiple organizations from the Northeast, the Southeast, California, Puerto Rico and Europe. A position at Rennoc Corp. brought Jay and Deena back to Vineland. In retirement, they stayed in South Jersey where Deena grew up and had life-long friends. Jay was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a proud American and a proud Jewish man. Jay was plain spoken and direct when need be, also charming and engaging when given the opportunity. He was a life-member of the Jewish War Veterans of America. As a Bronx native, Jay loved the New York Yankees and his many youthful days with his father at Yankee Stadium. Jay's interests and activities included; live music, playing the guitar, tennis, woodworking, time spent at the gym with his friends and travel, particularly to the national parks. Jay passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on July 11, 2026. He was a blessing to his family and friends. Jay will be missed and remembered with full hearts. A life well lived. Memorial donations can be made to the Jewish Federation of Cumberland County or charity of your choice. A funeral home visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15th from 11pm to 12pm followed by a funeral service at 12 pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland.
