Obituary of Victor Rone

Victor F. Rone, affectionately known as "Captain Vic," passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Victor was raised in Vineland, where he developed a strong work ethic, love of family, and adventurous spirit that would define his life. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1956, where he distinguished himself as a medal-winning discus thrower on the track team. He continued his education at Temple University, graduating in 1960, and went on to serve as a Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves. Victor was predeceased by his parents, Frank L. Rone II and Carmella "Elvira" (Pangaro) Rone, and is survived by his brother, Edward Rone (Linda) and his nephew Eddie (Jeannette) and their children. Victor shared a long marriage with June (Dmytryk) Rone and had three children; Frank Rone, Kim Foster (Craig), and Natalie Westfall (Mark); and his four beloved grandchildren; Olivia, Sophia, Clara, and Mark Westfall. Though life's paths changed over the years, Victor and June shared a lifelong bond rooted in family and friendship. Victor spent his later years with his loving companion, Jeanie Riebe, and her family, creating cherished memories. He is also survived by Jeanie, her sons Kerry Riebe Jr. (Amanda) and Jared Riebe (Joanna), and their children, Logan, Kerrigan, Graylee, and Keera Riebe. He is also survived by many cousins. Victor was an active member of his community throughout his life. He served as past President of the Vineland Jaycees, was a section leader for the Vineland Public Library, and was a member of the Vineland Chamber of Commerce. A dedicated wildlife conservationist, he was also a proud supporter of Ducks Unlimited and instilled in his children a love of gardens, lakes and oceans. Victor had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was especially well known for his love of Cape May's offshore tuna and shark fishing. He is the New Jersey state holder for the largest porgy, landing a remarkable catch in the Delaware Bay on April 14, 1976. The catch was also recognized as a world record by the International Underwater Spearfishing Association. His state record still stands today. Victor enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including bowling, tennis, and the tradition of Tuesday night card games with friends. He also shared his love of bowling as a coach, mentoring and encouraging young athletes. His adventurous spirit and love of friendly competition brought joy to those around him. A prominent businessman and entrepreneur, Victor began his career with National Freight and Frank Rone & Sons Fine Furniture. Alongside his beloved cousin and longtime business partner of forty-two years, Robert Rone, he built a legacy of successful businesses. Together they created R.V. Cousins Foods, Poultry Investors, ENOR Realty, South Jersey Precision Tool and Mold, Hammonton 1, and Cannon Range LLC. Victor was also a founder of Berryman's Branch Mobile Home Park and went on to own and operate numerous businesses throughout his career. His vision, determination, and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and the community alike. Above all, Victor will be remembered for his love of family, his generosity, his stories, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. His legacy lives on in the family and friends who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him. A Funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, June 19th from 10am to 12pm followed by a funeral service at 12pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland.
