Obituary of Helen C. Angelo

Helen Catherine Angelo passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026. Helen was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1931, where she was raised and educated in the catholic faith. She began her nursing career at Lenox Hill Hospital. She met her beloved husband, Edward, in 1950. They married and moved to Vineland in 1954. Helen continued her career at Newcomb Hospital through the early sixties. The Angelos set out on a new adventure and took over Jo Cullen's boutique on Landis Ave. in 1966. The business expanded to a second store in the Pleasantville Mall. The two worked tirelessly to build their business and raise their family of four. Helen went back to nursing at The Friend's Home in Woodstown for several years. As always, she finished with a flair at The Cumberland Manor as Assistant Director of Nursing. Throughout her life, Helen pursued many hobbies and creative outlets. She created braided rugs, award-winning quilts, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, scarves, and crazy quilt vests. One of her greatest joys was gardening. In retirement she became a Master Gardener and transformed her yard into an outdoor oasis. The garden, like everything, has different seasons, and her love, work, and beauty can be found there year-round. Her joy for life and her kind, considerate nature radiated through the beauty she created. All who knew Helen found her to be a loving and compassionate person, always finding the good in others. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Helen will be sadly missed by her daughter, Mary (Paolo) Moi; her sons, Paul (Diane) and Bartholomew (Kerry); her grandchildren Alessandro (Sarah), Gianfranco (Stephanie), Massimo, Thomas, Edward II, Catherine, Emily (Asa), Laura (Rob), Amy (Danny), and her 10 great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Raymond Barbata; her brother, Ray Barbata Jr.; her loving husband Edward, and her precious daughter, Donna. A church visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7th from 9:30am to 10:45am followed by a funeral mass at 11am from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Sacred Heart, 1010 East Landis Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
