Obituary of Patricia Ann Fitzgerald

Patricia Ann Fitzgerald, 93, of Vineland passed away on April 26, 2026. She was born in Pleasantville, NJ in 1933 to the late John P. and Linda M. (Webb) Dechen. The family moved to Vineland in 1937, and she has resided there ever since. Pat graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1950 and went to work for J.C. Penney until 1957 and then worked for Prudential Insurance until 1961, leaving to raise her family. She returned to work when her children were of school age for the Vineland Board of Education, working at Barse School as a library assistant. Pat was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping, going on many trips to Disney with her husband and occasional visits to the casino. Most of all she enjoyed hosting Christmas Eve for her family, and many backyard cookouts. She also enjoyed her grandchildren's sporting events and attending monthly lunch with her classmates. Pat was predeceased by her husband Richard J. Fitzgerald; infant son Michael; grandson Michael Fitzgerald Hennessy and three brothers John Dechen (Rose), William Dechen (Kay) and Paul Dechen and her sister Linda Marie Dechen. She is survived by her three daughters, Patty Fitzgerald Hennessy, Karen Rowan (George), and Colleen Fitzgerald; her grandchildren Eryn Hennessy, Eric Hennessy, Patrick Hennessy and Shannon Hennessy, Brian Rowan, Jeff Rowan, Mark Rowan and Jessica Panno. Her wonderful great-grandchildren, Gianna, Teagan, Hunter, Scarlett, Violet, Ellie and Ezra; her sister-in-law Millie Dechen and her special nephew, Scott Dechen. She also has many other nieces and nephews A funeral home visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2nd from 10am to 11am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 am from Our Lady Of The Blessed Sacrament - Church Of Saint Rose Of Lima, 104 Catawba Avenue, Newfield. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
