Obituary of Fr. Peter Saporito

Rev. Peter M. Saporito, 76, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. A priest of the Diocese of Camden, Father Saporito entered the Conventual Franciscan Order in 1967 and was ordained in Albany, New York on May 7, 1977. After receiving his master's degree in education, Father Saporito served in Catholic Education for over 20 years, at Saint Francis High School in Athol Springs, New York; Sacred Heart High School in Vineland; and Saint James High School in Carney's Point. Father Saporito also served at several parishes, including Saint Mary, Williamstown, Saint Raymond, Villas and as pastor of Saint Padre Pio, Vineland and Saint Mary of Mount Carmel, Hammonton. Father Saporito lived as a faithful priest who showed great care and love to those he served. He was always outgoing, kind, and easy to talk to. He is survived by sister & brother-in-law, Carmella And Gus Colon; nieces & nephews, Brett Houck, Kelli And Matthew Walz, Mindie and Mike Duquette, Todd and Jaime Houck, Mark Houck, David and Christina Houck; great nieces & nephews, Grayson Houck, Carson Houck, Jamison Houck, Grace and Trent Walz, Chance Houck, Jocelyn Duquette, Cohen and Bryce Houck, Sabrina Houck, Mark Houck Jr. and David Houck III. and his faithful dog companion, Grazia. Fr. Pete was predeceased by his parents, Grace and Salvatore Saporito; his dogs, Vito One and Vito Two; and his brother-in-law, Dr David J. Houck. A church visitation will be held on Monday, April 20th from 8:30am to 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am from Saint Padre Pio Parish - Church Of Our Lady Of Pompeii, 4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
