Obituary of Richard J. Thomas

Richard J. Thomas, 81, departed this life on Saturday April 11, 2026, unexpectedly in the comfort of his home with his family in Pittsgrove, NJ. He was born in 1944 in Bridgeton, NJ to the late Orestes Thomas and Dorothy Stackhouse. He is the husband of Bonnie Thomas who he married on November 14, 1970. Richard proudly served in the United States Navy for 6 years. He was a self-employed tractor trailer driver for many years before working as a dispatcher for EP Henry for 28 years. He was an excellent softball coach, a Corvette enthusiast, a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop. He loved listening to music and spending time with his family. Richard is lovingly survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie (Buono)Thomas; two daughters Traci Askins (Jeffrey) and Jaime Thomas; his son Brian Thomas (Ellen); grandchildren Kelly and Kyle Askins, Keith and Alexis Thomas, Dominik and Thomas Maronski; his brother Kenneth Thomas (Roberta), his sister Denise Pikolycky, and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his niece Tammy Pierce. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard's name to the Dementia Society of America (http://www.DementiaSociety.org). A funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, April 17th from 10am to 11am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ.
