Obituary of Edward J Verderose

Edward J. Verderose, 90, of Vineland passed away at home peacefully on March 1, 2026. Edward was a long-time resident of Newfield before moving to Vineland to help care for his sister, Frances, in her final years. Born in Newcomb Hospital in 1935 to the late Louis and Mary (Capollo). He attended 1st through 8th grade in Edgarton School in Newfield. He received the American Legion Outstanding Citizen Award upon the 8th grade graduation. He also attended Vineland High School via the train in his freshman year then bused by Newfield's own bus, grades ten through twelve graduating in 1954. Ed continuously served his community helping fundraised for Newfield's first ambulance. For many years he served on the board of Newfield Library and the Newfield Cemetery Association. He was hired by NJ Bell Telephone in 1955 as a lineman, he retired after 38 years. At the age of 57, he then worked nine years for Phoenix Communications. Ed did not quit working; he continued to work on days when called for Dave Guidarini Electrical Contractor. Ed loved to travel and did so all over the world. His favorites were Italy, Denmark and Israel visiting over 40 countries. In 2012, he married his wife Sally and together they resided in Vineland continuing to travel. They visited the Caribbean often with their favorite being Aruba and the Hawaiian Islands. He was a loving husband and best friend and a devoted father to his two sons, Edward Jr. (Stephanie) and Brian (Charlene). He was always there to provide guidance and love. He was very proud of the men they became. He was also very proud of his grandsons, Nico, Gian and Anthony. He will be missed by his extended family of nieces and nephews, especially his special niece Rosemary. Along with his extended family he leaves good memories to Laurie, Sheri, Vicki and Jeri. A church visitation will be held on Friday, March 6th from 9:15am to 10:15am followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am from Our Lady Of The Blessed Sacrament - Church Of Saint Rose Of Lima, 104 Catawba Avenue, Newfield. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newfield.
