Obituary of Barbara A. Staropoli

Barbara Ann (Forcinito) Staropoli, born April 12, 1950, passed away peacefully in the company of family on February 18, 2026. Born and raised in Vineland, Barbara spent her early years surrounded by family in a true home, lovingly built by her father. During her years in Vineland, she was a dedicated Girl Scout leader, Sarah Coventry Jewelry Representative, worked in her father-in-law's clothing factory, and later served as a JCPenney Catalogue Department Manager. She found great joy building memories with her children - crabbing in Newport and enjoying summer getaways in Ocean City. After a time living in Florida, Barbara eventually settled in Brigantine, where she made her home for over 30 years alongside her partner, Rosie. She quickly embraced the shore life, earning the affectionate nickname "Mom-mom Beach." During this chapter of her life, she enjoyed a 20-plus year career in Atlantic City's casino industry, where she formed many lasting and cherished friendships. She also delighted in casino gaming, attending her grandchildren's sports and activities, tending to her garden, and bringing her family together each Christmas for a home-cooked feast that culminated in a truly awe-inspiring display of cookies. She is predeceased by her father, Peter Forcinito; her grandson, Justin Staropoli; her life partner, Rose Sampson; her sister-in-law, Lori Forcinito; and lifelong friends Pat and Jack. She is survived by her mother, Madeline Forcinito; siblings Gayle Bracaliello (Gary), Carol Perrone (Bob), Peter Forcinito, and Kathy Popolo; and her children Jacqueline Palau (Mike), Joseph Staropoli III, Carrianne Dirkes, and Cher Bonini (Frank). She shared her children with her former husband, Joseph Staropoli, with whom she maintained a warm mutual respect and enduring friendship. She is also lovingly survived by her grandchildren Madelyn Torres, Samantha and Katelyn Palau, Gabrielle Staropoli, Stephen Sejda, and Andrew Dirkes. Her life was defined by a deep love of family, friends, animals (most recently her cat Sophie), life's simple joys, and the traditions she so warmly passed on to the generations that followed. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Susan G. Komen or the Dementia Society of America. A funeral home visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22nd from 10:30am to 12:30pm followed by a memorial service at 12:30 pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland.
