Obituary of Marie Casadia
Marie Casadia,80, of Vineland passed away on December 4, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born in Germany and immigrated to the US in the early 1950's with her parents, who later became US citizens.
Marie was married to John Casadia, Jr. for 61 years, together have two sons, John lives in West Virginia and David resides in Vineland. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Fagerlund and her children: Ken Fagerlund and his wife Meridith and Cindy Fagerlund Burrows and her husband Gary of Virginia. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Anna Zacharand her uncle and aunt, Nick and Amilia Zachar.
Marie was a devoted wife and mother. She worked in the Sears Catalog department for over 15 years and then in the admissions department at Newcomb Hospital for 17 years.
She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and fruit and shade trees at the farm. She also enjoyed watching her sons swim for the YMCA, Dolphin and VHS Swim Teams. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching birds and squirrels at feeders and nesting boxes through the kitchen window as she prepared dinner. She hosted Coastal Swimming Officials meetings and numerous Dolphin and VHS Swim Team coaching work sessions, always providing special lunches for the coaches. She also enjoyed family gatherings and picnics with her family.
It was Marie's unselfish sacrifices for over 60 years that enabled her husband to coach countless swimmers, most of whom she didn't even know. Her life revolved around his swim schedule of later dinners, coaching and parent meetings, 5 AM workouts and 4-5 days away at swim meets.
In lieu of flowers please consider planting a tree or a few wildflower seeds in her memory or make a gift in her memory to MISSION TEEN located in Norma.
