Obituary of Robert A Knego
Robert A. Knego, 90, of Vineland passed away on November 24, 2025, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. He grew up in Newark, NJ, with a passion for playing and watching baseball, especially his beloved Yankees.
Bob joined the Navy following high school and served in several overseas assignments as part of Naval Intelligence. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1957, he attended Upsala College in in East Orange, NJ, graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1961. While attending college, he met and fell in love with Marilyn Murray, and they married in 1963.
Following his graduation, he spent a brief time working for the NJ state government, followed by a 35-year career working in managerial positions with the Prudential Insurance Company until his retirement in 1997. His time with Prudential included positions in Newark, Linwood, NJ, High Point, NC and finally Millville, NJ, making Vineland his home for the last 54 years.
Bob was a volunteer with the Jaycees and with Junior Achievement, where he mentored students pursuing careers in business. He was also a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Vineland. He was an avid sports fan and took a keen interest in history, particularly military history, and was an encyclopedia of knowledge in those areas.
He is survived by his son David Knego (Yvette); his daughter Susan Knego; his granddaughters Jessica Busalacchi (Dominic), Sarah Knego and Holly Knego; his great-grandchildren David and Elena Busalacchi; his sister Ruth Grossberndt; his niece Karen Grossberndt Hackett (Bob); his nephews Kevin Grossberndt (Tammy) and Ronnie Grossberndt; brothers-in-law William Murray (DonnaMarie), Thomas Murray and Greg Murray (Maricel); his nephews-in-law and nieces-in-law Bill Crane (Stephanie), Melissa Conroy (Sean), Dayson Pasion (Jessica), Aaron Taylor (Kayla) and Gabbrielle Murray; his grand-nephews and grand-nieces Heather Gaul (Daniel), Kelly McDonough (Brian), Melissa Pawlyk (Nick), Tyler Grossberndt and Edwin Hackett; his grand-nephews and grand-nieces in-law Briana Conroy and Leonardo Taylor; and his great-grand nieces and nephews Bailey Ann McDonough, Logan Pawlyk and Noa Pawlyk. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Marilyn; his parents Harry and Margaret Knego; his father-in-law William Murray; his mother-in-law Jane Frenchman (Adolph); his sister-in-law Martha Crane; his brothers-in-law Ron Grossberndt, Keith Murray and Brian Murray; and his niece Debbie Kish (Steve).
Bob will be deeply missed by his family and all of those who loved him.
A funeral home visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd from 12pm to 2pm followed by a funeral service beginning at 2pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Bridgeton.
