Obituary of David B. Rosenberg
Dr. David B. Rosenberg of Vineland passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 92. He lived a life devoted to family, community, learning and teaching.
He was born in New York City and moved with his parents, Irving and Rose, and sister Judy to Vineland in the mid-1930s. He was a Vineland High graduate, attended Princeton University and NYU Medical School. After completing his medical training in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, he and his beloved wife Barbara Spitzer Rosenberg returned to Vineland where they raised their four children, Daniel, Michael, Diane, and Linda. He opened a private practice in 1962 and spent more than five decades caring for generations of children and families. To his great delight, his son, Dr. Michael Rosenberg, joined him in 1991 and the office was renamed Pediatric Associates.
Dr. Dave cared deeply for his family, friends, and community. He was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with them and with his many friends. He served many terms as president of Beth Israel Congregation, Newcomb Hospital, and was on the board of numerous community organizations. Dr. Dave was an empathetic physician and generous philanthropist to countless organizations, supporting a wide range of causes with his time and resources. He actively worked to improve people's lives and make the world a better place.
He was a lifelong student and teacher. For years, he taught at the clinic at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, sharing his experience and wisdom and learning from medical school residents. He and Barbara traveled the world, often on educational missions to Poland, the Mideast, China, the Soviet Union, the American Southwest, and elsewhere -- where he avidly took notes. He was a student of the Holocaust and developed a slide show to share what he learned with others, children and adults.
His interests were varied as borne out by the many collections that fill his study. They include Jewish artifacts, Lincoln and John F Kennedy memorabilia, and antique toys and medicine bottles.
He was predeceased by his wife of almost 70 years, his son Daniel, parents, and sister. He is survived by his children: Michael (Doreen), Diane Strauss (Andy), Linda (Barry), and Julie Kerich; his grandchildren: Zachary (Karen), Rebekah (Ben), Eva, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Jordana, Hannah, Abigail, and Eli; and four great grandchildren: Samuel, Max, Daniel, and Bryce.
The funeral service will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11 at Beth Israel Congregation, 1015 East Park Avenue, Vineland, with burial following at Alliance Cemetery in Norma, NJ.
The family will be sitting shiva at 30 Evelyn Ave., Vineland on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and from 5:30 - 8:00 pm on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings, with services at 7:00pm. An additional night of shiva will be held at the Jewish Center in Princeton N.J. from 6:00 - 8:30 pm, with services at 8:00.
