Obituary of Gary Freedman

Gary Freedman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at home in Ocean City, New Jersey, on the evening of May 4th, at the age of 90. Gary was born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey, where he spent the majority of his life working alongside his parents, Sam and Jean Freedman, and his brother Irwin at Freedman's Bakery on Plum Street. The bakery, started by his parents, became a treasured institution in Vineland, known regionally for its delicious bread. It remains a place warmly remembered-a symbol of tradition, family, and quality. After his years at the bakery, Gary transitioned into a successful career as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, where he continued to support others with quiet dedication and care. Gary is survived by his wife, Carole, and their four children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They include Randi and her daughter Kamea; Lewis and his wife, Priscilla and their children, Jonah (with his wife Alicia and their children Byari and Lotus), Triveni (Tyler), Arden (with his wife Leanne and their daughter Camille), and Raina; Cindy and her husband, Ron (with their son's Kevin and Cody), and Sara and her children, Scott (with his wife Susannah), Jessica, and Kyle. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Jean Freedman, his brother Irwin, and his sister Pearl. Irwin's wife, Ann, survives him. Gary also had many cousins, nephews, and nieces with whom he shared deeply loving relationships. Gary shared enduring love with his friends & community. Throughout his life, Gary dedicated time to serving his community. He volunteered at St. Peter's Food Cupboard, Shore Memorial Hospital, and the JCC Meals on Wheels program. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Vineland and the Beth Israel Synagogue Brotherhood. Gary and Carole's home was always a gathering place of multigenerational love, especially in their later years in Ocean City Gary was a man of quiet strength and generosity. Though never loud in his affections, he made sure his loved ones were always taken care of-and he did so with steadfast devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his humility, his gentle presence, and the enduring love he gave his family and community. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8th at 7pm at 44 Garden's Road, Ocean City. Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 12:30 pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma.
