Obituary of Susan B. Shostak

Susan Betty (Metterman) Shostak, 76 of Vineland, New Jersey passed away on May 3rd, 2025 surrounded by her family in Vineland. Susan was born in Germany on April 22nd, 1949, to Malka (Karger) Metterman and Morris Metterman. She came to the United States in 1949 and resided in Erie, Pennsylvania and then Farmingdale, New Jersey, with her parents Malka and Morris and her sister E. Lisa. She graduated from Trenton State University (now called The College of NJ) and spent ten years as an elementary school teacher in Howell Township. Being a mother and wife was her life's work. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She also dedicated many years to being an educator and principal at Kerem Torah Religious School as well as being an active member in organizations including Sisterhood and Hadassah at Beth Israel Congregation. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Hilton; son Michael; daughter Marci; grandchildren: Elias and Micah; niece Michele (Goodman) Slaney and her husband Mark Slaney; nephew Steven Goodman and his wife Andrea (Schoeffler) Goodman. She is predeceased by her parents Malka (Karger) Metterman and Morris Metterman; sister E. Lisa (Metterman) Goodman. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 11am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma. Following the burial, there will be a Meal of Consolation at Beth Israel Congregation 1015 E. Park Ave. Vineland, NJ 08360.
