Obituary of Edward Bachinsky
Edward John Bachinsky, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Milmay, NJ on Saturday, May 3rd. He was born in 1932, to the late John and Anna (Giba) Bachinsky. Ed was a 1950 graduate of Vineland High School. After the passing of his father when he was only 13, Ed helped his mother run the egg production business at their home on Post Road in East Vineland. Ed worked for The Triangle Corporation and U-Haul, before settling into his true passion, vegetable farming.
Ed enjoyed brokering his tomato crop at the Newark Farmer's Market, making friends to the many Italian families that he sold to and the fellow farmers he met there over the years. Ed was a pioneer when in 1978 he started selling his shallots through mail order all over the United States. Up until last summer Ed could be found selling produce at the Leola and Weverland Farm Markets in Pennsylvania.
Even though Ed was hardworking he always found time to enjoy life and his family. He enjoyed polka music, dancing, and singing old country tunes. He loved traveling with his wife and family both locally and abroad. His favorite past times were playing cards, cooking, Lenten dinners, deer hunting and watching RFD TV.
He was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish. He also belonged to many organizations including the St. Joseph Society, East Vineland Volunteer Fire Company #2, Dorothy Rod and Gun Club, Landisville Produce Co-Op and Vineland Cooperative Produce Auction,
Ed was a devout Catholic with a deep devotion to St Ann. He had many endearing qualities which he passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will forever be remembered as compassionate, humble, generous, hardworking, honest, full of integrity, faithful, and devoted. He loved unconditionally and was an outstanding conversationalist. He enjoyed talking and meeting people everywhere he went. He believed and lived by the golden rule "do unto others as you would have done unto you" Matthew 7:12. He was always ready to lend a helping hand only asking in return that you pay it forward when you can.
Married for a wonderful 63 years, Ed is survived by his wife Cecelia (Hensel); daughter Cecelia Ann Ruga; son Dr. Steven Bachinsky (Maria); daughter Janice Ruga (James) and son David; grandchildren, Andrew Ruga (Lindsay), Hannah Hutchins, MaryAnn Ruga, Jacob Ruga, Lydia Loew (Nicholas), Michael Ruga (Rebecca), Rosemary (Benjamin) Brimlow, Alyssa Ruga, Alexander Ruga, Nicolas Ruga, Sylvia Bachinsky, and Samuel Bachinsky and 12 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Ed was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law Mary (Kenneth) Simpson and Eleanor (Francis) Casazza and grandson in-law Benjamin Hutchins.
Funeral home visitations will be held on Sunday evening, May 11th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and again on Monday morning from 9am to 10:30am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 11am from Saint Padre Pio Parish - Church Of St. Mary's, 736 Union Road, Vineland. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Vineland.
ARRANGEMENTS are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360
