Obituary of Doreen Ann Spinelli
Doreen Ann (Nicolosi) Spinelli, 76, of Monroe Township, NJ, passed away, surrounded by her family, on April 28, 2025, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Doreen was born in Sea Isle City, NJ, and raised in Dorothy and Vineland, NJ. She was a 1966 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and a 1970 graduate from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) with a degree in teaching. She taught for 38 years in Millville, Our Lady of Mercy Academy, and the Vineland school systems, focusing on elementary, English, history, adult education, and English as a Second Language. Doreen was recognized by her students of all ages and her fellow educators for her teaching skills, including being recognized as "Teacher of the Year." She touched many lives from primary education to adult learners, and she enjoyed seeing, hearing from, and catching up with her former students.
Doreen loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, and she loved going to the beach. She was an avid shopper, scrap booker, and researcher of family history and genealogy - her family's history and anyone who showed an interest in learning their own. She made friends everywhere and anywhere she went. She was the center of the family, a cherished special friend, and is loved and will be missed by her family and her friends, old and new.
Doreen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles A. Spinelli; her three children, Stefanie D. Spinelli-Kreider (Karl), Debra L. Spinelli, and Gregory C. Spinelli (Lynn), and five grandchildren, Emeline Kreider, Ava Kreider, Jacoby Spinelli, Samantha Spinelli, and Jameson Spinelli. She is also survived by her brother Anthony Nicolosi (Sharon); sisters Cheryl Nicolosi and Donna Procopio (Joseph), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Doreen is predeceased by her parents Anthony and Sophie Nicolosi, and her in-laws, Angelo and Julia Spinelli.
PLEASE NO FLOWERS as the cemetery disposes of them. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doreen's honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, www.pancan.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
