Obituary of Thomas W. Longacre Sr.

Thomas W. Longacre, Sr., of Sewell, NJ, formerly of the Erial/Sicklerville sections of Gloucester Township, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Tom remained a proud son of the city throughout his life. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Karen A. Longacre (née Chinnici), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and family. He is survived by his loving children, Kim M. Longacre and Thomas W. Longacre, Jr., and was a deeply proud grandfather to Cole and Chase Longacre, who brought him immense joy and pride. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5. A patriot and protector at heart, his service remained one of his proudest accomplishments. Following Karen's passing, Tom moved to Sewell, NJ, where he found peace and companionship in the daily walks he took with his cherished Doberman grand-dogs, Penny and Sarge. He was a familiar face in the neighborhood, known for his warmth, quiet strength, and his love for family. A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, Tom passionately supported the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers, but no players ever came close to the two who wore skates and jerseys for youth hockey: his grandsons. Known affectionately as "Poppers," Tom collected not only Philly sports memorabilia, but an even greater treasure-photos of Cole and Chase in action, proudly displayed throughout his home. Tom's legacy is one of dedication, loyalty, and love-values he passed down to his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be laid to eternal rest on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
