Obituary of Marie T Abate

Marie (Scarpa) Abate, 84, of Vineland, New Jersey passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born to Carmen and Lucy (DeBiaso) Scarpa on October 28, 1940, in Vineland, New Jersey. Marie enjoyed working with people, in retail and fitness establishments through the years. But her main priority was being Mom, Mom-Mom, Re-Re and Aunt Re. In addition to traveling with friends, playing at the casino, and summers at the shore, Marie enjoyed watching her grandchildren's ballgames, college football and the Phillies. Marie was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Gaetano "Tom" Abate Sr. and her sister Lucille (Scarpa) Andersen. She is survived by her brother Carman Scarpa (Lois), and brother-in-law Keith Andersen; three children, Gaetano "Tom" Abate Jr. (Carmen), Daniel Abate (Christopher), Andrew Abate (Anne); four grandchildren, Nicholas Abate (Brittany), Abigail Abate, Allison Abate and Ava Abate, and many nieces and nephews. No mention of the people in her life would be complete without acknowledging the many great, great friends of our South Vineland Neighborhood. Their assistance and companionship over the last several months helping with Mom's care was a tremendous relief to our family making her part of everyone's family. A funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, April 18th from 2pm to 3pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ.
