Obituary of Paul Perino
Paul Perino, born June 18, 1926, died on April 3, 2025, peacefully with his wife at his side. Paul graduated from Vineland High School in 1944 and played on the varsity baseball team. He served as a radioman for the United States Navy on the island of Guam during WWII.
Paul worked his entire 38-year career at the Vineland Post Office starting as a Mail Carrier and ending his career as PostMaster. "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds," the postal service "motto," perfectly describes how Paul approached his work. He and many other veterans and non-veterans helped the Vineland Post Office successfully serve customers over his nearly 40-year career.
Paul was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and served as past board member of Luther Acres in Vineland.
Paul thoroughly enjoyed playing and watching sports. Go Eagles and St. Louis Cardinals! In his early years he played hardball, softball, and bowling. He coached baseball and basketball. In his forties, he learned how to play golf and would walk the Latona Golf Course three or four times each week until he gave up golf at age 89. On the weekends or special occasions, while in his eighties and early nineties, he often would be found outside playing wiffleball or shooting baskets with his great-grandchildren.
Paul met the love of his life, Doris, at the Bridgeton Skating Rink after WWII, got married, and raised their family. In more recent years after Paul retired, he and Doris ate many dinners at the Maplewood in Vineland or Giacomo's in Richland, went to dances in Mullica Hill, took walks, and vacationed in Myrtle Beach and Florida, along with trips to Wisconsin to visit his daughter's family, and spent lots of time with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Paul is survived and missed by his loving wife of 77 years, Doris H. (Garrison) Perino; his two children Susan Martin (Joseph) and Paul Perino Jr. (Janet). He is forever cherished and remembered by his three grandchildren, Lauren McGrory (Patrick), Kristin Nicholson (Daniel), and Joseph Martin (Emily), and eight great-grandchildren, Patrick, Julia, Dax, Zander, Aidan, Elia, Liana, and Audria.
A memorial service will be held for the family at a later date.
