Obituary of Rita J Abba

Rita J. Abba passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, in Rancho Mirage, California. She was born and raised in Vineland by her parents Anthony and Carmella Asselta. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Rita was employed by the Vineland Board of Education for 22 years and worked as a Data Entry Operator and Secretary at Max Leuchter Elementary School where she loved each student and treated them as if they were her own children. Rita was a devoted Catholic and attended mass every day. She was an avid pinochle player and loved playing with family and friends always finding time to teach the game to anyone interested in playing. She loved the Philadelphia Phillies and enjoyed her many outings to Citizens Bank Park and watched every game on the MLB network even while living in California. Rita loved animals and spent countless hours doting over her Yorkshire Terriers. She is survived by her son, Joseph Anthony Abba and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph J. Abba in 1987; brothers, James, John, Gaetano, Rocco, Joseph, Daniel and Anthony Jr. Asselta; and sisters Mary Fiocchi, Angelina Bonjorno, Anne Viani, and Lucy Abriola. A private service is planned and inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
