Obituary of Sadelle H. Peltz

Sadelle Green-Peltz (nee Fisher) , of Vineland, died at Cooper University Hospital Center in Camden, NJ on June 8, 2007. She passed away as a result of an injury sustained in an accidental fall. She is survived by her supportive loving husband Bernard; her daughter Annette "Sunny" Somershein of Drexel Hill, PA and Cape May, NJ; her son William Green and wife Deborah of Cherry Hill, NJ; her stepson Morris Peltz and her Stepdaughter Audrey Guarina of Salem, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tiffany and Joe Ward of Clermont, FL; Heather Somershein of Boston, MA; Rebecca, Jackson and Joshua Green of Cherry Hill, NJ; Israel Peltz of Tennessee; Christina and Ben DeLaurentis of Virginia; Edward Dixon of Wilmington, DE and Tammy Dixon of Mt. Laurel. She was born in Bridgeton, NJ on March 1, 1924. For many years she owned and operated Fisher's Baby Shop and then Jack's Toyland on Landis Avenue in Vineland. She was a Glassboro State College Graduate with a Master's Degree in Education. She became a Learning Disabilities Reading Consultant and then became a Principal of Ellison School. She was also co-owner of a chain of jewelry stores called Jack of Diamonds. Once retired, she began a new career. She learned the art of storytelling from her father Abraham Fisher, who hung lollipops from the trees and wove tales of wonder for the neighborhood children. She lovingly became known as the Turtle Taler and wrote and performed her own unique stories for adults and children, of all ages. Sadelle Green/Peltz organized the "Voices from the Sand," a storyteller's club. She was a member of the National Storyteller's Association and a Life Member of Hadassah, as well as, an active member of the volunteer community. She traveled extensively and her trips included: Southwestern Indian Reservations, China, Mexico, Caribbean Islands, Europe, Israel, Alaska, Puerto Rico and most of the Continental United States. She will be sadly missed and always remembered.
