Obituary of Mildred Ruggeri
Mildred (Leonardo) Ruggeri, 96 of Vineland passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the residence of Barbara Martino; her daughter. Mildred was born in Philadelphia, on August 6, 1921 to the late Salvatore and Rose (Castello) Leonardo. She began her working career in various clothing factories. After raising her daughter, she was employed by the Vineland Board of Education for 25 years before her retirement as head cook for the Johnstone School. After her retirement Mildred enjoyed; the casinos, going to lunch, dinner and traveling to the mountains with "the gang".
Mildred was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was a faithful catholic and a member of St. Padre Pio Parish.
Mildred is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Bob Martino, granddaughter Amanda, whom she adored, brother and his wife, Sal and Helen Leonardo Jr. and cousin and second daughter Barbara DeRuchie. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and her grand-puppy Tess who was a devoted "guardian". Mildred is predeceased by her husband William "Bill" Ruggeri, her parents Salvatore and Rose Leonardo Sr, brother Joseph Leonardo, sisters Louise Leonardo and Josephine DeGuseppi. A church visitation will be held on Wednesday October 4, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am where a Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 am in Saint Padre Pio Parish - Church Of St. Mary's, 736 Union Road, Vineland, NJ
Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery Vineland.
