Obituary of Ellen Elbeuf

Ellen Marie (Malatesta) Elbeuf, 86, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday morning, April 28, 2017, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland NJ. She was a lifelong resident of Vineland. Ellen graduated Vineland High School in 1948, where she was a varsity cheerleader, and participated in the Choral and Italian Clubs. She attended Glassboro State Teachers College (Rowan University) where she majored in Elementary Education and was also a cheerleader. Ellen began her teaching career working for the Vineland Board of Education, in 1966, as a co-teacher at Maurice Fels School. She transitioned to a classroom teacher at Dr. William Mennies Elementary School, retiring in 1996. Ellen also dedicated her time to the family business, Elbeuf's Florist. Ellen was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing golf with her husband Joe and their life-long friends at Buena Vista Country Club. She served on the North Italy Benevolent Association Women's Auxiliary for many years, was president of the South Jersey Organ Club, and an active member at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish (formally St. Isidore Parish). Ellen enjoyed singing and dancing with her friends at social events. Ellen and Joe vacatoned in Sea Isle City, the Poconos, and Killington, Vermont. She cherished family gatherings, where she was known for her specialty cooking and baking recipes, of which her homemade raviolis were the family favorite. Ellen especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending all of their school and sporting events. Ellen is survived by her son, Dale Joseph Elbeuf; daughter, Dawn Cerana (Randy); daughter, Gwen Hagenbarth (Chet); brother, John Malatesta; sister-in-laws, Marion D'Augustine and Margaret Malatesta; grandchildren, Kyle Cerana, Joseph M. Elbeuf, Kristin Hagenbarth, Colin Hagenbarth, Kerry Cerana, Lauren Elbeuf; daughter-in-law, Tricia Elbeuf (Clark); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Joseph P. Elbeuf; daughter, Gale Elbeuf; father, John Malatesta Sr; mother, Angela Malatesta (Meschi); brothers, Joe and Albert Malatesta. The family would like to thank the third floor acute care nurses and medical staff at Inspira Medical Center of Vineland for their kindness and compassion.
