Obituary of Louis G Martine

Louis G Martine, 89, lifelong resident of Vineland, passed peacefully at home and went to be with the Lord on June 14th, surrounded by his loving family. His peaceful, humble nature, coupled with a great sense of humor made him a pleasure to be with. Lou was born in Vineland to the late Louis and Jennie (Bracco) on April 21, 1927. He was a graduate of Sacred heart High School in 1945 and went on to pursue an education in Banking and Financing at Villanova University before heading off to spend a couple of years as a financier for the U>S. Army in Germany during World War II. We so enjoyed his "war stories" over the years. After returning from his military duty, he married his sweetheart. Phyllis "Suggie" Carlton. Lou began his liflong banking career at Tradesman's National Bank in Vineland for several years and then moved on to work for the First national Bank of Newfield for 35 years as Vice president. He enjoyed his job at the bank and could be quoted to have saidon many a Sunday, "one good thing, work tomorrow". He also worked evenings as a bookkeeper for Armellini Trucking Company for 20 years. After retiring from the bank, he went on to work 15 years at the Cumberland County Courthouse as a court clerk, where he was loved and appreicated by all he met. Lou loved sports and spent many a night with Suggie enjoying the Phillies, Eagles or college basketball games. he truly enjoyed time spent with family and was an active member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish.
