Obituary of Sophie D. Nicolosi

Sophie D. Nicolosi, 89, of Milmay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 1, 2016. Born and raised in Hamtramck, Michigan, she moved to South Jersey where she met and married her husband, Anthony Nicolosi Sr. They resided and raised their four children in Vineland. Sophie worked as a cashier for various large chain grocery stores and later for Golden Nugget and Bally's Grand casinos. At 16, she participated in World War II war efforts as a Rosie the Riveter where she would rivet on the catwalks for B-24 bombers. She would sign her initials and good luck wishes on the planes for the soldiers going to war. She valued family and faith above all else. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her motto was strength in family. She enjoyed dancing, theater, visits to the casino, and music. She had a beautiful soprano voice and would often sing while cleaning and cooking. She was proud of her Polish heritage. Sophie is predeceased by her husband, Anthony Gene Nicolosi, Sr., her parents Julius and Paulina (Dzkielewski), as well as twenty brothers and sisters. She is survived by her four children: Doreen (Charles) Spinelli, Anthony (Sharon) Nicolosi, Jr., Cheryl (Paul) Nicolosi-Marcynyszyn, and Donna (Joe) Procopio; ten grandchildren: Stefanie Spinelli-Kreider, Debra Spinelli, Gregory Spinelli, Christine Nicolosi LeBlanc, Christian Romano, Danielle Procopio, Brittany Procopio, Paul Marcynyszyn, Dominique Marcynyszyn, and Nicole Marcynyszyn; and six great-grandchildren: Emi and Ava Kreider, Jacoby Spinelli, Enzo Malatesta and Dreston LeBlanc, and Mackenzie Zornes. A church visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6 from #am to #am followed by a funeral mass at #am from The Parish of Saint Padre Pio at Our Lady of Pompeii Church,4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland. Internment will follow in Our Lady of Pompeii Cemetery, Vineland. Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service , 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ, 08360.
