Obituary of Leopold Foy

Leopold "Leo" Frederick Foy, 73, of Milmay, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, New Jersey due to complications of lung cancer. To celebrate his life, a gathering will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, Saturday, February 6 at the Milmay Volunteer Fire Department, 225 Broad Street, Milmay, New Jersey 08340. Refreshments will be sponsored by the Milmay Volunteer Fire Company. Leo was born in August of 1942 in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Frederick and Adele (Dupel) Foy. He attended Vineland High School and was in the first graduating class of Oakcrest High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. WASP as an electronics technician from October 1961 to October 1963 and in the U.S. Naval Reserve until October 1966. He served as a police officer in Hamilton Township in 1969. On October 24, 1970 he married the former Katherina Zina Grizky. Leo was the owner of Foy Electric in Milmay, New Jersey for 25 years and was a well-known industrial electrical contractor in the South Jersey area. He spent most of his adult years serving in the Milmay Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter, chief, elected official and handyman. He kept his private pilot's license for many years, was an avid flyer and loved planes, especially the Mustang P-51. He was a tireless craftsman, committed to his work, and an unyielding patriot. He enjoyed his family, good food and drink, politics, gardening and watching the Phillies. Leo is survived by his wife Katherina Foy of Milmay, New Jersey, his son and daughter-in-law, Leo Christopher Foy and Kelly (Gentry) Foy of Berlin, Vermont and, his brother-in-law Walter Grizky and his wife Kathy with their children John, Devin, Samantha and Emily of Dorothy, New Jersey; one grandchild, Leo David Foy, his sister Laurel Wright of Hawkins, Texas, his niece Courtney Andreason and his nephew Corey Ervin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Adele Foy. A special thank you to the the Milmay Fire Company and the Rone Funeral Home for all the arrangments.
