Obituary of Anthony J Scarpa

Anthony J. "Tony" Scarpa, 88 of Vineland passed away on January 28, 2016 at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia. He was born in Vineland where he remained a life long resident. At the age of 21 he joined Vineland Fire Department Company # 4 as a volunteer. Thirty-eight years later he retired as Fire Chief in 1996. Tony owned Scarpa Seafood and "The Washery" car wash on Oak and Main Road for many years. He was a member of the Vineland Fireman Exempt Association, The Cumberland County Fire/ Police Association and The State of New Jersey Exempt Fireman Association. Tony was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church where he served as an usher for over 30 years. One of Tony's greatest joys was fishing with his sons, grandson and his friends. He is survived by wife of 66 years, Antoinette (Musacchia) Scarpa; son, Richard M. Scarpa; daughter & son-in-law, Donna & Richard Martine Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony & Susan Scarpa; grandchildren, Richard Martine Jr. (Jennifer), Sarah Martine-Belfi (Jim), Christine Scarpa and Lauren Scarpa,; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Dominick & Lyla; brothers & sisters-in-law, John & Jana Scarpa and Joseph & Gaye Scarpa; sister, Rose Giordano; sister & brother-in-law, Angelina & Charles Giacomelli and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Tony was predeceased by his son in 1999, Frank J. Scarpa, his parents, Frank & Edith Scarpa, his brother-in-law, John Giordano and his great niece Dana Dandrea. Funeral Home Visitations will be held on Sunday evening from 6pm to 9pm and again on Monday morning from 10am to 12pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. A funeral mass will be held Monday at 1pm from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Sacred Heart, 1010 East Landis Avenue, Vineland. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
