Obituary of Maria Carvalho

Maria Carvalho, 101, a resident of Bishop McCarthy since 2009 passed away peacefully with her family by her side, to be with the Lord on September 25, 2015. Born in the town of Ver, Arouca, in Portugal she was the daughter of Ernesto and Generosa Azevedo Loreiro. Maria was married to Oscar Carvalho who predeceased her on 12-20-1995. They were married on May 22, 1944. They celebrated their golden anniversary by renewing their vows, in the same church where they were married in 1944, with family and friends on August 27, 1994. She was the mother of predeceased infant Alvaro Carvalho, the late daughter Maria Edilia Carvalho Pinho. Maria is survived by her son Joseph (Joe) Carvalho, son-in-law Virginio Pinho, and three granddaughters Ilda Maria Pinho-Tretheway, Sheilla Regina Carvalho, and Luisa Monique Carvalho, two great-grandchildren Victoria Maria Tretheway, Bruce Thomas Tretheway III, her brother Martinho and Alicea Loreiro whom reside in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and many nieces and nephews in Portugal, Brazil and the USA. Maria was a devoted Catholic and faithful to the Blessed Mother Lady of Fatima. She prayed the rosary daily and loved to sing the Ave Maria. Maria was a woman who always saw the good in life, and thanked God for everything He gave her and her loved ones. She loved to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren listening to their accomplishments and life aspirations. She was a woman who always inspired her loved ones to be the best they could be. If one was having a difficult day they could always go to Maria for a smile, kind words of encouragement, and a sense of hope. The family would like to thank Bishop McCarthy employees and residents, for taking care of and loving Maria as if she was one of their family members. They would also like to thank Holy Redeemer for their love and support over the past month. A Funeral Mass and burial for Maria will be held in her hometown in Portugal. The funeral Mass will take place in the same church that she and her late husband exchanged wedding vows back in 1944. ARRANGEMENTS are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service 1110 E.
