Obituary of Benno Branderbit

Benno (Bernie) Branderbit -86 of Rittenhouse Square, formerly of Vineland and Egg Harbor Township NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by family and close friends on April 4th. After immigrating to the US as a child and growing up in Williamstown, he married the love of his life Phyllis. He devoted himself to her for 60 years until her passing in September, 2014. Together they raised a family and were involved extensively in Sons of Jacob congregation where they put on Broadway style musicals for charity. Bernie played several roles, his favorite being Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof. After several successful careers and business ventures, Bernie retired to spend time with family. One of his greatest pleasures was feeding the local animals. Whether it was the ducks and horses of EHT or the many dogs around Rittenhouse Square it always made his day. He would never be found without treats in his pockets. Predeceased by his loving wife Phyllis and his brother Max. Bernie is survived by his daughter Ileen of Rittenhouse Square; son David, daughter in-law Gina grandson Brian of Northfield NJ., sister-in-law Diane, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harold and Claire Block, and many nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews; his loving care-givers Rosel, Alice, Karlene and Sydney. Also survived by the real favorites, the grand pets! Tigerlily, Rosie, Cooper and Jake. Graveside services and burial to follow will be held Monday at 2:00 pm in the Alliance Cemetery, Gershel Ave, Norma.
